W.A.C. -- Trolling

Warning: The following post may contain CassSpeak

I remember a time when I never heard cursing, a time that everyone spoke the same, at the same level. I wonder why that time has since left me. Is it because you hear your parents argue with each other and use “four letter words”? Or because your brother is hanging out with his friends and you think they are so cool so you start copying what they say? This is what I don’t understand. Why do people curse/swear/use four letter words/ whatever you want to call it in a game that is mostly filled with CHILDREN. I don’t understand why kids (age 1-16) use this kind of language and some of them don’t even know what they mean. Just because you know the word or you heard someone else say it doesn’t mean it makes it right for you to shout it out or say it in a game/school/office/court house or any public place really that have children in it. I mean if you had a son or a little sibling in the area would you really want them to hear that kind of language? Also, why do we have to be rude to each other? I mean, we are all the same in the game; pixels. We don’t need you to be rude and immature yelling out “NOOB OMG WOW” aka being a “troll.” The definition of troll is:

“One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum/game without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He/she will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevance to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he/she uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue.”
However, a “Gobbler” is someone who uses profanity.

Reporting: Do not be afraid to report someone for using foul language. I know most wizards are afraid of that red report button because they think they committing a false report. If you know they are trying to get around the filters and swearing report it. Get rid of the potty mouths and make them learn their lesson, and if they don’t they could get a 10 year mute or banned if they continually use profanity.

Troll spray & Gobbler spray: Although not to be confused with an actually spray bottle/can, Troll spray in simple terms is putting up a good argument against the troll or defending your friends against it. The typical troll speech I get is: “wow what a dispel noob he can’t win without using dispels.” The best defense against this in my opinion is either stay silent and say GG (Good game) after the match is done and port away or you can defend your case and say that “A dispel is a card that KI put in the game for us to use when and how we want.” Gobbler spray is simply reporting and telling the Gobbler to watch their language. Usually you can find extra stock of “spray” in the W.A.C. (Wizards Against Cussing) building, aka Twitter.

People shouldn’t have to tell you twice: If someone says, “Please stop being rude” it is not reply in a trolling manner. It means to be nice/friendly. If someone says “please get out of the dueling circle” what do you think that means? No, it does not mean you can stay there and jump around and say “no” it means step off of the circle or get banished to the commons. It’s ok if you are not paying attention and you ask the person to repeat what they said in a kind manner but do not say “DUDE I COULDN’T UNDERSTAND YOU SAY IT AGAIN.”

Being friendly and respectful: I think my buddy SorceressMiklai says it better than I could ever explain. Game &Forum Etiquette.
